I truly believe that the smallest moments, even if they only last a few seconds, are what matters most. It might be a loving glance, your child's hand on your cheek, or maybe an expression of pure joy before they run as fast as lightning through the park.

As your Portland family photographer, my primary focus (no pun intended!) is to capture your family's authentic selves and preserve memories in the most beautiful way. I want to capture images you didn't know you needed but will forever cherish as your child ages.
You won't be forced into stiff poses or fake smiles - I will gently guide you through fun & easy prompts and natural family activities that your children will enjoy.
Choose from many of Portland's incredible backdrops such as the Oregon Coast, the Columbia River Gorge, in & around Portland, or even the comfort of your own home!

Hi there-
I'm Nicole Fitzwater, based in Sandy, Oregon, just outside of Portland on your way up to Mt. Hood. I specialize in photographing motherhood, maternity, newborns, and families from all areas of Portland, the Oregon Coast, Columbia River Gorge and beyond.
I grew up in Oregon, often spending my childhood camping in forests, hiking up mountains and swimming at the beach with my family, or just a quiet Sunday afternoon on my grandparents' farm. I never get tired of photographing the PNW's beauty and the sweet families that live or visit here.
I worked many years as a preschool teacher and in elementary schools, so I speak child! I’m comfortable stepping into the chaos, slowing things down, or simply taking a break during a session to regroup.
I have a busy almost-two-year-old daughter who reminds me daily that real moments rarely look “posed.” It’s why my sessions are centered on connection, comfort, and letting your family interact naturally while I document it.
I want to capture your family's memories because as cliché as it sounds - these moments won't last forever. The stressful day-to-day to-do lists will fade in memory, but how your baby wrapped their little fingers around yours will be cherished forever. Pictures of these moments- your child's toothless smile and their butterfly kisses- you'll want to look back on for the rest of your life. I know because I'm living it, too.
