As your Portland family photographer, I want to capture images you didn't know you needed but will forever cherish as your child ages. And I want to capture images that your children will one day cherish as they age.
You won't be forced into stiff poses or fake smiles - I will gently guide you through easy, natural prompts and activities that you & your children will enjoy.
Choose from many of Oregon's incredible backdrops such as the Oregon Coast, the Columbia River Gorge, in & around Portland, & we'll determine a more exact location after booking, or if you'd like, we can even have the session in the comfort of your own home.

I'm Nicole Fitzwater, I'm so glad you're here! I specialize in photographing motherhood moments including maternity, newborns, and families.
I photograph families all across the Portland area to the Oregon Coast, Columbia River Gorge and central & eastern Oregon based in Sandy, Oregon.
Having grown up in Oregon, I often spent my childhood camping in forests, hiking up mountains and building sand castles at the beach with my family. Or I would spend a quiet Sunday afternoon on my grandparents' farm helping my grandma weed the garden or feed the horses, which is why nature & farms is most often the backdrop to my photography.
I worked many years as a preschool teacher and in elementary schools, so I speak child! I’m comfortable stepping into the chaos, slowing things down, or simply taking a break during a session to regroup.
I have a busy two year old daughter who reminds me daily that real moments rarely look “posed.” It’s why my sessions are centered on connection, comfort, and letting your family interact naturally while I document it.
As your Portland family photographer, I want to capture your family's memories because as cliché as it sounds - these moments won't last forever. The stressful day-to-day to-do lists will fade in memory, but how your baby wrapped their little fingers around yours will be cherished forever.
Pictures of these moments- your child's toothless smile and their butterfly kisses- you'll want to look back on for the rest of your life. I know because I'm living it, too.
