the LIGHT in the midst of darkness

As a former Waldorf (LifeWays) preschool teacher, lantern walks were by far my favorite time of year.
The days are growing colder in the fall and nights are getting longer.
Lantern walks have always been part of Martinmas to celebrate St. Martin
who saw a beggar shivering in the cold and in need of warmth.
St. Martin cut his cloak in two and gave one to the beggar.
Lanterns are always a good reminder to keep your inner light glowing
with warmth, kindness, and positivity in the midst of darkness.

THE DETAILS
These lantern sessions are best right before sunset,
traditionally held in November but can be photographed any time of year.
**Not every photo in your gallery will have a lantern in it.
These sessions are similar to a typical family session but with focus and intention on carrying the light.
***There is one lantern that is battery operated for younger children and two lanterns that are flame/oil operated best for more responsible/older children and adults.
(Happy to purchase more battery operated, etc. if needed).
LOCATION:
There are a couple places offered for these at the moment: a
forest backdrop in Sandy, OR and a field/mini forest in Estacada, OR.
These photo sessions focus on your family's personal story.
Less posing and more prompts that help facilitate engagement & connection.
If we need to take a snack break, we will. If we need to move faster or slower, we will. If your kids cry, scream, kick & yell, it's OKAY. I used to be a teacher so I've seen it all haha! We'll roll with it and go with the flow.
All I ask is that you bring your authentic selves and live in the moment with your children, however they show up that day. No stress, no expectations; an experience.

"I go with my bright little lantern...
my lantern is going with me."
— Traditional Lantern Walk song
