When families search for a Portland family photographer, they’re often looking for more than just pretty pictures in a pretty location.
They're looking for a photographer who understands children, motherhood and what it takes to make this photo session as smooth as possible - a photographer that understands the exhaustion, the planning, the to-do lists...all while capturing the tenderness, the love, & the closeness that authentically represents you and your family.
I get it. I am a mother, myself, and a former teacher who understands children of all ages. I make sure the process of booking and the photo session is effortless and easy, and I'm here to help you through the whole experience along the way.
I photograph families & motherhood throughout Portland, Oregon with a child-led approach that prioritizes connection over performance. Real moments over staged, super trendy ones. I'll still guide your family through prompts and activities while capturing the real emotions of the moments.
The result is imagery that feels timeless, grounded, and deeply personal that you'll want to cherish forever.

Family Photography Designed for Portland Life
Portland has its own rhythm & weather - we are lucky to have all four seasons, with two in particular that give a lot of rain, which is what makes the scenery so beautiful and green year-round, but... can be a challenge for outdoor photo sessions.
Photographers love overcast light, myself included, because it is very soft light and flattering for faces. This also can give images a more intimate, moody feel.
Portland also has gorgeous golden sunsets in the summertime, giving us dramatic images, especially when paired with Oregon's mountain ranges and oregon coastline. We also have earthy tones for fall and wildflowers for spring. Understanding how light shifts through our seasons matters and, of course, so does understanding how real families move through them.

Sessions are intentionally structured to feel unhurried and natural. Often parents think shorter sessions will be better but in my experience, the less pressure we put on the children and ourselves to perform, even if quickly, the more relaxed and easy they are. I do offer mini sessions a couple times a year, though, for families who really just want a super short session. See my pricing page for current mini session events.

In-Home Family Photography in and around Portland
Some of the most meaningful work I create happens inside my clients’ homes. Your home does not have to be fancy or magazine-worthy. We just need natural light from a window and your family. Leave the rest to me to make your images beautiful and meaningful.
Portland’s rainy season is a great time for these type of sessions but are offered year-round, especially for newborns.
In-home sessions offer great benefits — weather is no longer a factor, no need to pack and drive, and you'll receive quality images of your children comfortable in their own home, running across wood floors in bare feet and snuggling with you on the couch.

There is no need for perfect decor. What matters is the way your life feels.
Years from now, these images offer you and your children so much because they can look back on themselves in spaces that mean something to them.
THE BOOKING PROCESS
Once you book a session with me (based on general location), we will then settle on an exact location and type of session (maternity, family, etc.).
I will guide you on clothing and go over details to make this shoot personalized to your family.
Depending on the attention span of your children, sessions will last between 45 and 90 minutes, unless it's a mini session and in that case, we'll use up the whole time!
Kids might have grumpy moments, and THAT'S OKAY! We'll go with the flow and take a quick snack break if needed.
I won't overly pose you into super awkward positions - I'll gently guide you into what looks best in photos while you play and snuggle with your family. Sessions are meant to be relaxed and to spend quality time with your children. Not a stiffly posed and uncomfortable session. Even dads say afterwards that it wasn't bad at all!
Once your session is complete, I'll send an online gallery 2 - 4 weeks after your session where you'll be able to download your images.
