I had zero clue what newborn post-partum life was like until I had my own baby. I seriously thought it was just a cute new baby you get to hold all the time and lose a little sleep for awhile. Okay that's partly true but there's SO MUCH more to this new season of life. Hormones, learning to breastfeed, how to respond to your baby in the way they want, just to name a few. And yes, all on a few hours of sleep (if you're lucky) and still needing to make meals for yourself and develop a resemblance of what a normal life used to look like.

And then with an older sibling to also help with the adjustment process and managing their emotions - it's a lot!

As your Portland newborn photographer, I love capturing the heart of newborn life - in your home - and making the whole experience as stress-free and comfortable as possible. Breastfeeding, especially, is what I struggled with the most. My daughter had a tongue-tie and I had sore nipples - so sore that I remember crying in the shower thinking I'd rather go through the birth process all over again (49 hours of labor) than to experience the nipple pain in those first two weeks.

We finally got into a groove and it all smoothed out for the most part but I made sure to get myself some breastfeeding photos a priority because I didn't know how many months I'd be able to continue and wanted to capture that experience that felt like forever while in the middle of it but it was really so fleeting.

This is why I want to provide those shots for other mamas as well. And if you're not breastfeeding but your pumping or bottle feeding instead, let's capture that, too, because it's part of your story as a new mother of 1, 2, 3, or 4 or...
