Wildflower Field Near Vancouver | Portland Family Photographer Spring Session

There's a beautiful field close to Vancouver, WA that covers itself in camas lillies every spring. To say it's magical still doesn't do it justice - you'll just have to experience it for yourself! Just be mindful of the poison oak - you'll be fine if you stick to the trail but I do recommend identifying it quickly so you know what to watch out for while walking around this beautiful place. We made sure our daughter stayed close to us the entire time and when she didn't listen (because of course, right?) my husband carried her which is why some of these photos she's up on his shoulders or being carried by him - not just for a cute photo - ha!
We visited this place on a Saturday afternoon to check it out for ourselves after hearing about it from locals - my husband and daughter are my greatest supporters - always willing to location scout and model for me to test out the lighting. This place was no exception! The only thing was - I didn't put much thought into the wardrobe before leaving - oops! I don't know why I thought I wouldn't take many photos. I was, of course, wrong! Why am I wearing black in the middle of spring on a warmer & more humid than usual day? Don't ask me! But we had fun capturing these images anyway while breathing in the beauty.
As your Portland Family Photographer, I will prep you about each location beforehand, down to whether or not there are bathrooms, parking, dogs allowed, etc. and yes, even poison oak! Safety is always my top priority. If you ever feel a location is unsafe for your family, I will happily select another location that suits your family's story best. Luckily, the Portland area has plenty of beauty to choose from. =)
